Westfield is located in Union County, New Jersey. Westfield has over 29,000 residents as of the 2000 United States Census.

The town of Westfield was originally formed from portions of Elizabeth while the area was still part of Essex County.  Westfield became part of the newly formed Union County on March 19, 1857.  Portions were also taken from Rahway, Plainfield, Cranford, Fanwood, Mountainside, and Hillside.  In March of 1903 the town was incorporated and named Westfield Township.

Westfield's downtown is highly successful, featuring many local and national stores, such as Lord and Taylor and several landmarks that were shown and used in the NBC network television show Ed such as the Rialto Theater. There are over 200 retail establishments and over 40 restaurants and casual dining establishments throughout the downtown Westfield. 

Westfield is divided into a North Side and a South Side. Within these 2 areas are distinct neighborhoods;

New Jersey Transit's provides rail service from the Westfield train station to Newark Penn Station with connection service to Penn Station New York. Bus service is also available to New York's Port Authority.

Newark Liberty International Airport is approximately 20 minutes from Westfield.
