Colonia is a census-designated area within Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. This area takes up about 3.9 square miles of Middlesex County and is home to more then 17,500 residents. Colonia educated children from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Elementary schools include: Claremont Avenue, Lynn Crest, Oak Ridge Heights and Pensylvania Avenue. Colonia Middle School and Colonia High School educate the 6th through 12th grade studets. St. John Vianney Grammer School is a K-8 school within the Colonia boundaries.

Colonia sits near Interstate 95, Routes 1 and 9 and the Lincoln Highways. The Garden State Parkway also cuts through the north west portion of Colonia.
