Mountainside is a city located in Union County, New Jersey. Mountainside has over 39,000 residents as of the 2000 United States Census.

Linden was originally formed as a township on March 4, 1861, from portions of Elizabeth, Rahway and Union Township. Portions of the township were taken to form Cranford in 1871, Linden Borough in 1882 and Roselle in 1894. Linden was then incorporated as a city by an Act of the NJ Legislature on January in 1925, replacing both Linden Township and Linden Borough (which had been formed in 1882 from the township).


Besides Linden's public school system, the city has the following Private Schools;

  • Saints Mary and Elizabeth Academy, Catholic school (Pre-K through 8th grade)
  • St. John the Apostle School (Pre-K through 8th grade)
  • Victory Christian Academy (Pre-K through 12th grade)
  • Yeshiva Gedola Zichron Leyma/Kollel Zichron Yechezkel


Route 1/9, Route 27 and Interstate 278, and the New Jersey Turnpike all cut through Linden.  The Garden State Parkway is also with a mile of the city limits.

New Jersey Transit's provides bus service to the Port Authority and Midtown Manhattan, Elizabeth, Perth Amboy and Newark. NJ Transit trains also offer service via the North Jersey Coast Line and the Northeast Corridor line.

Linden also has a small general aviation airport along the eastern side by Route 1/9.

Newark Liberty International Airport is approximately 15 miles away from Linden.
